Revel Seven Organic

Revel Seven is a celebration (Revel) of living a conscious and sustainable lifestyle 7 (Seven) days a week.

The clothing line features 100% certified organic tees and handcrafted denim with soft feel and bright colors. Appealing to the environmentally conscious man and woman with high expectations of quality and style in mind, the Revel Seven Organic fall collection draws inspiration from casual American lifestyle while honoring the earth and its inhabitants.

The concept behind Revel Seven is to apply the latest methods of sustainable production and technology to a collection of stylish sportswear in an effort to create a better world through environmentally and socially responsible fashion.

Just like the cotton that was used to produce the first pair of Levi's, Revel Seven collections are produced without the use of cotton grown using chemical pesticides and fertilizers or the use of toxins in production, increasing durability without posing a threat to the community. Choosing organic materials and the designer’s strict adherence to a production ethic that seeks to create the least possible harm is Revel Seven’s contribution to minimizing the impact of these toxins on our planet. Be a part of the solution by choosing not to participate in the problem.

DENIM. Revel Seven is offering 3 fits in men’s, and four in women’s denim. In Men’s Revel Seven is offering a straight, a slim straight, and a boot cut. In Women’s - a skinny, a pipe leg, a boot cut, and a boyfriend. Washes include Raw, Rinse, Vintage, 10 year, and 15 year.

Revel Seven will launch Fall 2009 at better department stores and specialty boutiques, so be on the lookout!

RETROspective: Marilyn Monroe

Celebrating the life of a Hollywood Glam Goddess

Born Norma Jeane Mortenson on this very day nearly a century ago, Marilyn Monroe has been labeled as one of the most iconic figures in pop culture.

Seemingly an overnight success story, Marilyn Monroe's life was anything but easy. She spent most of her childhood in and out of foster homes and orphanages, as her father was estranged and her mother suffered from mental illness. Even so, Norma Jeane's family friend and guardian, Grace McKee, still believed in her, telling young Marilyn that she would someday become "...an important woman...a movie star." Prophecy fulfilled.

Norma Jeane was originally a brunette. But in order to get modeling gigs, she dyed her hair a golden blonde, proving that blondes really do have more fun!

Norma Jeane adopted the stage name, "Marilyn Monroe" after having been told that she reminded 20th Century Fox Executive Ben Lyon of Marilyn Miller. In place of "Miller", she used her grandmother's surname, Monroe.

Believe it or not, Monroe got her start in the Radio Munitions Factory. There, she sprayed airplane parts with fire retardant and inspected parachutes. After being photographed for an article in Yank, the Army Weekly, a magazine that was published by the United States during World War II, she was encouraged to take on modeling.

Marilyn Monroe is best known for her typecasted role as the "dumb blonde". But ironically, she was neither a natural blonde, nor was she dumb. She was actually very intelligent, witty, and good-humored.... She was passionate and very determined. Like most women, she wanted acceptance...she wanted to be loved for her true self...romance...a family...fame...all the things that little girls dream of....
"In Hollywood a girl's virtue is much less important than her hairdo. You're
judged by how you look, not by what you are. Hollywood's a place where
they'll
pay you a thousand dollars for kiss, and fifty cents for your
soul.
I know,
because I turned down the first offer often enough and
held out for
the fifty."

Marilyn Monroe has starred in numerous films, including one of my personal favorites, The Seven Year Itch, The Prince and the Showgirl, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Asphalt Jungle, There's No Business Like Show Business, Niagara, and the list goes on.... Marilyn Monroe's performances have earned her many awards and nominations. She has won a Golden Globe in the categories of Best Motion Picture Actress in Comedy or Musical for Some Like It Hot and World Film Favorite: Female.

Marilyn Monroe is often imitated, but never duplicated. There can only be one Marilyn Monroe! Actress, model, singer, comedian, producer--Marilyn Monroe is truly a legend that lives on through her legacy. And let me tell you folks--this blonde bombshell is a tough act to follow!

"Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga

"I'm your biggest fan...I'll follow you until you love me!!"

Sometimes infatuation can truly get the better of us (a sentiment with which I am all too familiar). I'm sure many of you can relate ... but even if you can't, there's one thing that I'm almost certain we all can agree on ... Lady Gaga is thebomb.com!! I might be a little biased since I'm a ready-made fan of her futuristic style, electronica sound, and over-the-top theatrics, but with the premiere of this video, she may have picked up quite a few more fans along the way....

He Loves My Big Ego

The Queen Bey's at it again! Check out her latest video off her I Am...Sasha Fierce album! I present to you ... "EGO"

Video courtesy of WesternDigitalxD

I must say--I was expecting a little bit more from the "EGO" video (i.e. COLOR, more than two background dancers, male presence) but I think I see where Beyoncé is going with this one.... Sasha Fierce is very clearly a statement of independence, confidence, and liberation. It celebrates the strength of a woman. All in all, on a scale of Fab to Fail, I think that we can all agree: this video is FAB!

Double Cup Love

Move over Chris Brown--there's a new sheriff in town! Apparently, Rihanna's got a new beau. Here's what Page Six has to say about the new pair:
The Barbadian beauty showed up with a group of friends Monday at Lucky
Strike Lanes & Lounge on West 42nd Street, but spent most of the night
locking lips with Canadian former child actor-turned-rapper Aubrey "Drake"
Graham. "She was drinking whiskey and apple juice and making out with him
all
night," says a spy. "They were really cute together." Rihanna who's also
been spending time in town with Katy Perry, peeled off with Drake at about
midnight.

If you still don't know who Drake is, this might ring a bell....

Drake is best known for playing Jimmy Brooks, the physically disabled character on the popular teen series Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Both artists are sittin' on top of the world. This duo could take the world by storm! The next Hov and Bey? We'll see!

69th Annual American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala

Yesterday, the American Ballet Theatre, one of the world's most revered and innovative dance companies to date, celebrated the opening of its sixty-ninth season at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, New York. And you know what that means--the stars came out to play! The notable and talented Carolina Herrera (also the go-to designer of the evening) and Graff Jewelers sponsored the star-studded event, so just about everyone who graced the "red carpet" fell nothing short of fabulosity.

Just Blaze

To achieve timeless appeal, adorn your ensemble with an oversized blazer....

Keri's look is Urban Chic.

"...thought she'd be wearing heels, didn't you? Yeah, so did I! But in fashion, expect the unexpected."

As shown by Keri Hilson (above) and Rihanna (pictured below), The White Blazer is a great wardrobe addition, especially for the spring/summer season. Menswear-inspired, the oversized blazer is the perfect alternative to the trench coat, jacket, or cardigan.

**Add a touch of class to any wardrobe with a blazer.

Rihanna portrays Rock Star Glam with her bright yellow LEATHER blazer (by Marc Jacobs) ... circa 1980's, we'll say ...

**Blazers put a retro spin on just about everything!!

The oversized blazer was borrowed from the boys, after all...but anything they can do--we girls can do better, right??? Kanye West and David Beckham show us how it's really done....

Kanye shows us his preppy side.

"For a finishing touch, I wonder if he's wearing Converse Chuck Taylors...." (nahhh, maybe Air Yeezys)

On an ending note....

  • The blazer look is not a difficult one to pull off. It's been done before, so why not try the look for size?! Fashion is all about taking risks, so take a chance, Fashionista!
  • Solid color blazers can be so boring. If you should decide to sport a solid color blazer, turn it up a notch with underlaying prints. Not a print person? ACCESSORIZE!
  • On the other hand, if your blazer is printed, it already speaks for itself. Turn down the volume with underlaying solids.
  • TAKE NOTES!! Follow the leaders, i.e. Keri Hilson, Rihanna, Kanye West, and David Beckham.

"See, told you all the cool people wear blazers! Dig Chester French...."
